to use the neuro-active CD for optimising learning
After EEG spectral analysis measurements have
been conducted at the institute, a CD is produced which is tailored to your
individual needs. The music is adapted individually according to the results
of the EEC spectroanalysis measurements.
The music acts upon the patient at different levels.
One of the effects of the music is to raise neurotransmitter distribution in
the brain, above all acetylcholine. Acetylcholine is a neuro-
transmitter which predisposes the brain to the
You will sometimes hear crackling or other noises
- these have been included intentionally and serve to reinforce what has been
learned. Since some frequencies have been incorporated into the music at a high-frequency
range (ultrasound) you will hear from time to time a noise; this is intentional,
and a basis of the neuro-active effects.
The music also "moves" from one ear
to the other, accompanied from time to time by changes in volume. This helps
to synchronise the two hemispheres of the brain via the corpus callosum (a link
between the two hemispheres). This lateralisation enables the brain to work
efficiently and to develop new potential for mental and creative activity.
listen to this CD via headphones while learning or while engaged in an
activity in which you want to improve your performance. It is important that while you are listening you are engaged in some
activity, such as learning or doing something in which you want to improve your
performance. Listening while performing such a task causes new paths to be created
in the brain. Learning becomes easier and more enjoyable.
You should listen to the CD two to three times
a day for 10 to 15 minutes at a time. After one or two weeks you can increase
the listening time. Because you listen while learning, you do not need any extra
time for the CD. If you use it regularly every day, it can lead to improve-
ments in a relatively short time. A regular use
is important; the work with the CD is to be understood as training. Also, an
important factor for the success is a positive atmosphere and an attitude of
confidence and positive thinking.
Listening to the CD via speakers does not have
any individual neuro-active effect. If you copy the CD onto a tape, the music's
special effects will be lost because the cassette does not transmit the high-frequency
School children can learn vocabularly, practise
dictation, write essays or solve maths problems while listening to the CD.
Students can use the CD while studying.
If you want to improve your professional skills,
e.g. learn a language or practise using a computer, you can listen to the
CD while you work.
You can use the CD to increase creativity: while
writing, painting, composing, visualising.
Top professionals such as managers or sportspersons
can use it as an efficient, effective way to improve performance.
When using the CD you should change from time
to time your learning mode, i.e. combine your listening the CD with both absorbing
and actively repeating knowledge. For example, retell what you have read, mark
keywords, make an outline etc. For children with serious concentration and attention
problems, new techniques which help to learn independently can be built up after
the first improvements of the symptoms, when the child has become more quiet
and is capable of concentrating.
We also recommend to combine the training sequences
with movements. These may be therapeutical or stimulating physical exercises,
or simply sitting on an air cushion or a gym ball when learning. These are only
some examples. During your visit at our institute you will receive more information
how to use your CD.
Before putting on the headphones, please check the volume, which should be low to medium. To ensure optimum effect, the music should not be excessively loud. If the volume is too high, this could damage your hearing.
Wireless headphones can be useful because there is no cord to hamper you as you work. Before listening, please, make sure that the optimal reception frequency is selected: You then should have a clear reception without disturbances and the music should move between the two earpieces. Infrared headphones should only be used if they transmit the necessary frequence range up to 20,000 Hz.
Please, don’t use the CD immediately before sleeping; this is especially important for children.
